Our Village

Monks Kirby, set in a shallow valley and comprising of 188 dwellings, has a history that goes back to the 7th century. St Edith’s church, a grade I listed building, was founded in the 11th century and dominates the landscape of the village, There is a nationally famous ring of 8 bells and bell ringing has long been a feature of the church. The village is a designated village conservation area; many of the houses in the village are over 100 years old and there is sympathetic new development interspersed. There is an excellent primary school and a well attended Catholic church both of which serve a wide catchment area. We are blessed with a popular public house (Denbigh Arms) and a well supported and maintained village hall.
